I’m still trying to figure out when I was elected and sworn in but I have accepted the role in my circle as the go to technology person. Admittedly, I have never received “formal training” and my experience and success derives from constantly being thrown into the water and having to SINK OR SWIM. As I’ve dog paddled my way along, I have learned a lot.
Computer Assistance.
Whenever someone gets stumped by their computer, somehow, my name always comes up as the person to call for assistance. This can become quite a heavy load to shoulder because it comes with such high expectations. The resolution is usually Operator Error or the typical Computer-Superior-to-Operator error, I swoop in with my analytical and diagnostic eye and save the day.
Web Design.
When my school needed a website, I was the one sent for training. I had no idea how to design a website but once again, I commenced to dog paddling. I learned the basics of Adobe Dreamweaver during a 2-day training session. Five years later, I was sent to a one-day refresher course on Adobe Contribute. The school district was leaning more towards content management moreso than original content. By that time, I had already learned the fundamentals of web design, created a slick website for my school and learned to fish and swim.
CREATIVITY
I have never been enrolled in an art class - not even a class at Michaels although I have intended to. I am NOT the traditional artist. My creativity comes from my surroundings. I grew up watching my Grandmother in Mississippi and her friends using scraps of rags to create quilts in the summer that kept us warm all winter.
LIFE
Technology, Creativity, Life makes up The Creative Lady. Currently, I am a public school educator by day but by night and all points and times in between, I AM The Creative Lady. My LIFE includes shareables not included in Technology or Creativity aspects of my life. Cooking, traveling and certainly, my opinions are included.
